The website Where There Is A Will came about as a result of a discussion
on Victoria's Gippsland Lakes in April 2007.

In a true-life scenario, relatives of a deceased family member were not able to
discover if the deceased had left a Will, and if so, when was it made and where it
was located.

The discussion was about the difference it would make to have a single, easy-to-remember
website that contained details of where and how to lodge Wills and Powers of Attorney. Having
such a resource would remove the need to notify relevant interested parties of any change in the
location of the latest Will or Power of Attorney.
